Dana White, the UFC president, says Conor McGregor denies the sexual-assault allegation made against him earlier this year.
McGregor was arrested by Irish police in January – and later released without charge – after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin in December, according to The New York Times.
White said the Irish fighter told him that someone else did it.
“I know zero about that,” White told reporters Tuesday. “To be honest with you, the back-and-forth that I’ve had with him about that is that it’s not him, it’s somebody else. So I don’t know.”
Shortly after news of the investigation broke in March, McGregor announced his official retirement from mixed martial arts in a tweet.
"I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition,'' he said. "I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!"
While he remains retired, it is expected that the Dublin-born fighter will return to the octagon soon.
